What is beautiful?
What is beautiful? By simple definition, beautiful is defined as pleasing to the mind or senses aesthetically. In simple terms, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. However, in the beauty industry, there is a never-ending drive to look our best, youngest, flawless self.
The beauty industry alone drives in 534 Billion dollars annually and has a growth rate of 5.86%. The largest segment of this industry is personal care which includes consumer goods for cosmetic and body care. Basically, the beauty industry is seriously raking in our money from cosmetics, fragrance, skincare and haircare. If I were to sit here and name all of the products they sell to us through advertising, you wouldn't finish this blog post. So how do we choose the best products in this market that suits our goals/needs? That answer will be different for everyone.
I've worked in the beauty industry for the last 7 years doing makeup, selling high-end cosmetics, skincare, haircare, fragrance... You name it. With how quickly the market changes, I will never personally feel confident to say that I am an expert by any means. However, I know we all appreciate reading reviews before we purchase something that is almost $100. I can only speak from my own experience, but I've never bought a high-end product without hearing someone rave about it first.
My name is Kaitlin and this is my blog which is dedicated to my opinions on current beauty trends, product recommendations, and my hatred and love of the beauty industry. Remember that trend when some women thought it was cute to do squiggle eyebrows? Oh god... Hey, to each their own. Here I promise to tell you all the things beauty advisors aren't allowed to say. Does that $130 eye cream really work? Is stretch mark cream a waste of time? Can makeup actually make you look alive? Which mens cologne are women raving about? If anything, I hope someone along the way can laugh with me at the evolution of eyebrows.
Enjoy!
Kaitlin
